New offer on Spring '08 TA's

Cunard just mailed out a flyer on some of the Spring, 2008 Transatlantics....

Starting at $999. for an inside cabin, but only $1,099 for a verandah cabin! (April 16th crossing) Six days across, and you could turn right around and come home on her, or stay for 12 days, and then sail back! Ah, now THAT'S a vacation!!!!!

Might be a good chance for those waffling about trying Cunard or a TA to make the jump!!!!

I'll have to check this out! Nothing planned yet for the spring. Thanks for the heads up, Andrew.

Thanks a lot for the information, Andrew.

I'd like to ask, are those flyer-offers "special offers" or are they official Cunard (U.S.) pricing?

We're located in Europe and the 999 USD strike me indeed as outstanding. The price, I suspect, would exclude any TA-flights? Sorry in case I misunderstood your posting here.

Tantris, the brochure made it quite clear that these prices were in effect in the US, and even said that, while they said "Hurry, book now!" (or the stiff upper lip equivalent!), that the prices might indeed be continued after any deadline...which I couldn't see on the brochure....it's a capacity control thing, I'm sure. The website fares are $300 higher, but even mention that other offers might be available. Never hurts to ask a travel agent.

Given what the Dollar is doing against the Pound and Euro, I can see why you'd like to book in the US. Not sure that they allow that, but I'd certainly try. You might even try to go as part of a US based group booking... or search the web for deals. Right now, vacationstogo.com has the verandah at $1198. pp, but with a $200 per cabin credit. Again, not sure about their booking rules, but it's worth a shot. Looks like, with the picture in your post, that you might be "World Club" too, so always check on those discounts.

And yes, that was independent of flights. If you truly want to investigate, and hate the thought of a 'coach' or economy flight home, look at MaxJet. They've been offering $495 one way fares from JFK to Stanstead (or reverse) and it's an all business class flight. Friends have just done it and raved about the experience. MaxJet also flies to Las Vegas from Stanstead, so we may try them from the West Coast yet, as las Vegas is only a quick flight away!

Joey, "Cunard" people aren't really all that different that most of the rest of us....the line is more formal in dress, perhaps feels more 'civilized' with the tea every afternoon, etc., but there's still fun to be had, and lovely people from all walks of life: as a sampling of the passengers, here's who we 'hung out' with on our last cruise: A former tv reporter-turned Episcopal minister...and his bride, 25 years his junior, a gay undertaker from NY, a Romanian emigre from Miami, a woman attorney from Indiana, a 'wild' LA divorcee traveling with her dowager-esque aunt from Switzerland, a cast of nice 'boys', and some very funny Brits...

    Cheers,

    Andrew

Andrew What I cant seem to comprehend .. Maybe it's because I am a Joey... But.. when i explore the website it looks like that the ships are divided into "classes" can you comment or expound on that...

Sorry, took me a while to write....but it's there, now.

Here's the link: http://www.cruiselinefans.com/cunard...conscious.html (Is Cunard "class conscious?")

Just got ANOTHER copy of the promotional brochure, and noticed the fine print this time. While you might not see this exact rate on the Cunard website, supposedly, if you ask for this promotion code, your TA or a Cunard rep should be able to pull up the correct rates. Here it is:

    promotion code PL9

The other thing I noticed is that this is NOT a past guest rate, so those booking should check to see if one is better than the other, as they say the discounts may or may not be combinable...never hurts to ask.
