    Photo Op in Ft Lauderdale

    From the Cunard website:

A Royal RendezvousTM in Ft. Lauderdale: Queen Mary 2 and Queen Elizabeth 2

VALENCIA, CA - December 19, 2006 - On January 10, 2007, maritime and Cunard ocean liner enthusiasts will have a rare opportunity to see the line's legendary liners - Queen Mary 2 and Queen Elizabeth 2 - set sail on simultaneous, but different, World Cruises. A Royal Rendezvous of the world's most famous ocean liners, the two iconic ships will depart Port Everglades, Florida on southward journeys; Queen Mary 2 on her first-ever World Cruise - an 81-day circumnavigation of the globe - and Queen Elizabeth 2 on her Silver Jubilee World Cruise - an exotic 108-day voyage marking her 25th around the world.

Views of the historic event are available from several vantage points, including the 17th Street Causeway Bridge. At 5 p.m., viewers can also watch the ships sail together from Fort Lauderdale Beach, at either the pier or beach at John U. Lloyd Beach State Park.

Just keep us in mind for vacations only, Delores. COL is high here and salaries do not keep pace with it. What you would pay for a home here, you might be able to buy a mansion up there, and the property taxes? well let's not go there.

Oh yes, that's a no brainer, pictures of the Royal Liners.

Good Morning Sheila, today is the day. I've just returned from Port Everglades with the most precious pictures of the Royal floating treasures. Here they are, enjoy.

For those who don't know which is the QE 2 from the QM 2,
the Queen Elizabeth 2(QE 2) is the ship whose port side is facing you. (picture 3&5)
The Queen Mary 2(QM 2) is the ship whose aft you are seeing in the picture.(picture 4)

You're Welcomed Sheila. Thanks for the Frus.
I arrived too late to hear the blasts of both ships horns. There were quite a few people looking at both liners from the 17th St Bridge. I had all intention of going to the port, because the last time I remember seeing the QE 2 was about 28 years ago in Trinidad. Her World Cruise lasts 108 days. The QM 2 we see every Saturday, but now she's on her first World Cruise, 81 days.
Check out the 2007 World Cruise Routing, First, QM 2, then QE 2:
