Why is Cunard a "top" cruise line?

What features do they offer that other cruises don't?

I have never sailed them......everytime I check, they seem too expensive for me and my budget............but would also like to hear from those that have sailed this line.

Well, nothing tangible really, other than the fact that Cunard is the only line that offers cruising on real ocean liners which also happen to be the most famous ships afloat.

What they have is a history and prestige that other lines cannot offer.
They have a name that is connected to what was once THE epitomy of sea-going luxury, with ships such as the Queen Mary, Queen Elizabeth, Mauretania, Lusitania, Caronia...

Cunard ships were the ships of choice for the rich and famous, for kings, queens, ambassadors, presidents, titled persons, the top names in entertainment and big business, the social 'elite'. To some extent, it can be said that this is still true. No other line can claim to have the regular patronage of the world's most famous royal family. Famous names still book passage on QE2 and QM2.
Of course, other cruiselines can claim famous passengers to, but not to the extent that Cunard can.

With the explosion in the popularity of cruising over the past couple of decades, what they offer onboard nowdays is nothing that cannot be found on other top lines such as Silversea, Raddison, and Crystal.
As a matter of fact, people I know who are Cunard regulars and who have sailed on the other top lines say that better food, service, and comfort can be found elsewhere. Of course, such things don't come cheap. Silversea, Raddison and Crystal are also expensive lines, which I would love to but have not tried.

    Cool

The thing I liked on the QE2 was the crew all had to speak English. Company policy but it might have changed.

I've sailed on QE2 numerous times. And it seems to get better!

Well that would make it a top cruise line in my book.
