    Most Expensive Cruising

From an article on MSNBC.com, titled
    World's most expensive cruise accomodations

Aboard the 2,620-passenger Queen Mary 2, these 1,500-square-foot two-story suites have oversized 749-square-foot balconies.

    The article begins :

Cruising without a butler and a private hot tub is like flying first class without Dom Perignon and a flat-bed seat. Sure, you can snag a cruise to the islands for a song — try $100 a day or less for a basic cabin on the Vegas-style mega ships — but the best rooms go for a whole lot more. The most expensive penthouse suites at sea routinely go north of $1,000 per person per day, and often more than twice that.

I would love to be in one of these!!!
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

Here's another picture and description, courtesy of Forbes Traveler:

    © Norwegian Cruise Line

    Garden Villa
7 nights eastern Caribbean, roundtrip from Miami (Dec. 22, 2006)
    $2,314 per person per day

At 5,750 square feet, the pair of Garden Villas on the 2,376-passenger Norwegian Pearl are the biggest suites at sea. There are three bedrooms, an enormous living room, grand piano and sea view bathrooms with whirlpool tubs and L'Occitane products. A roomy private patio has chaise lounges and a hot tub. A private butler and personal concierge are on hand, and limo service is complimentary from the pier to the airport

If I ever win the lottery, I'd love to cruise on the QE2 in that understatedly elegant suite! I am not sure what I'd do with a butler, but I know what I'd do with the hot tub!! Oh what views!!
I think I'd pass on the Norweigan one though, I hate having to wear sunglasses in my suite!

    Thumbs up

"The QM2, lavishly christened by the Queen herself in 2004, has a pair of 2,249-square-foot Grand Duplex Suites that include exclusive access to a private sundeck, restaurant and lounge. The price for the royal treatment? Try $3,900 per person per day for a six-night transatlantic crossing."

    Holy Moly!!!
I guess if you have to think about it, you can't afford it!

Love the Queen Mary suite...very classy. But I don't like the looks of that other one at all. No matter how big it is, that color scheme would give me a headache!

    Here's one on Seabourne:

    Seabourn Cruises, Seabourn Pride
    Owners Suites
18 days South America/Antarctica, Valparaiso to Buenos Aires (Jan. 24, 2007)
    $1,739 per person per day

The Owners Suites are cozy at 575 square feet. There's a tiny verandah, living room and dining area. Toiletries are Molton Brown and stateroom stewardesses can prepare special baths, including one using moisturizing tamanu oils from Tahiti and another Dead Sea salts. Fares are inclusive of open bar, gratuities and water sports from the ship's retractable marina.

That Seaborne room looks a lot like the Radisson penthouse suite from our last cruise. Different colors, but a similar layout. The bathroom was big...as big as most modern house bathrooms...and I think the closet could have served as another cabin. We got this room as an "oops, sorry for the mixup" upgrade, and it was sure a nice treat!
