Well,low blood sugar is definitely a lot more of a problem for a type I diabetic! They really have a challenge in monitoring and raising blood sugar when it falls too low, but then having to be careful about keeping it in control and not have it spike. But it is the low blood sugar that is most likely to kill them.
I'm pre-diabetic and on a low carb diet (much lower than the ADA diet), and I had no trouble on our cruise last March on NCL. I did order off the "always available" section of the menu several nights as the main courses were pasta, had sauces with sugar, etc.

For sure ... low blood sugar is just as much of a problem as high blood sugar.
