We just returned, as a family, from cruising aboard the Nieuw Amsterdam with Holland America Line to the Eastern Caribbean. I made a video of our experience. Let me know what you think.

Great cruise video!
You sure had a lot of snow where you live...the warm Caribbean was quite a change.
You have a very nice family!![]()
Thanks, I know I have a nice family and I love them dearly...it's such a wonderful experience to share these cruises with them.
Nothing better for a family vacation than a cruise! Where in Minnesota are you from? We were in Burnsville for several years. Did your son really love Club HAL or was he unduly influenced by all the video games?
Nice video, was your wife holding the camera?
I used a tripod most of the time. Yes, my son enjoyed Club HAL...I was surprised at how well he enjoyed it.
Your video is so interesting. You has nice family.
I tryed get understand of english speak.
Glad your family has great time on the Nieuw Amsterdam
This video really interesting and I heared your call with interest.
So fun was view how your family enjoyed cruising.

C. A.:
Installment #1 fascinated me! As an inveterate cruiser, everything about the experience is intriguing. My next cruise is in about six weeks aboard the Nieuw Amsterdam so there was heightened interest.
I'll be travelling with approximately 20 others, all of whom, so far as I know, have cruised before. Still, some consider themselves newbies! I hope to make their vacation even better.
As a single senior (that is, over 70, for sure!), I really love Holland America, because they're so attuned to us. However, I very much admire their care for the kids - if for no other reason than that the small(er) ones aren't under foot all day!
Looking forward to your future entries!

That is one thing I noticed about both HAL and Celebrity. Both lines have a few kids on every cruise, the kids always seem to enjoy themselves, and at no time are they underfoot.
Although, on one cruise the kids were all over the ship asking people where they were from for a scavenger hint they were having. They were so polite that it was fun seeing them go from passenger to passenger. I think it also broke the ice as other people overheard some of the answers.
Yup, know Bloomington well. My wife had to drive through it every day to get to work in downtown Minneapolis. Good grief, it has been 20 years since we were last there. Did they ever take that nasty curve out of the highway?

nealberk:
On my 10-night Thanksgiving cruise on the Noordam last year, there were at least two dozen kids. I have to assume they were home-schooled, because I know of no school district who'd allow such a long absence; many won't let kids out of school that week at all!
Perhaps that partly explains why, when I encountered six pre-teens in an elevator with their "shepherd," they all agreed that they were "having a ball!" And, they seemed sincere, not because of the young lady's presence!
A recent article in "Porthole" covers the Nieuw Amsterdam, and the Club HAL facilities are outstanding!
