    Unbelieveable footage.
I hope that crew was tried for abandoning ship and leaving the passengers...
May their Karma win out with them sent to jail!! Or better yet, left on a sinking vessel to perish as their passengers very well could have.

I think the captain walked... Isn't the captain supposed to go down with the ship? How could he "supervise" the rescue from a helicopter?

Avranas was quoted in the New York Times as saying, "When I give the order abandon ship, it doesn't matter what time I leave. If some people want to stay, they can stay."

The National Geographic Chanel (NGC) this morning (July 17) aired a one hour program from 2003 called "Cruise Ship Rescue", all about the Oceanos sinking.

There was a lot of incredible footage shot on the sinking ship and from rescue helicopters and rescue ships, passenger interviews, interviews with the hero entertainment crew, and some pretty good reinactments and computer animation.

The stories of the reprehensable actions of the officers and crew are just amazing. On board were the captain's wife and daughter, who were put in the first lifeboat, long before any other passengers even realized there was any danger.
As we know, there were never any announcements made to passengers, and there were never any "abandon ship" instructions, signals, or alarms for the passengers.
The bridge was deserted as soon as they realized the ship was sinking, and there was no communication at all from officers to passengers.
A bizarre twist...the last person rescued was one of the casino's croupiers. He was found in the sea, ten miles from the ship, with fifteen thousand dollars stuffed in his shirt. He had fallen into the sea while abandoning ship.

That would have been interesting to watch today. I cant believe any of the crew left before the passengers! Shame on them! I think its funny the casino guy took money in case he survived LOL

Considering how many cruises depart on a monthly basis, cruising is still a safe way to travel.

Certainly much safer than walking or pogo sticking or for that matter, crossing the street.

    Thumbs up Cruise ship sinking

Some story, If you watch NG programing they most likely will show that story again this week or next week. I wish I could see it. Maybe I go online to see if I can watch it online. And one other thing I'd like to think that the man had taken the money to give it back. BUUUT maybe not. I try to give people a benfit of a dought before I judge them. Have a great day KATERI (TERI)

I Love to Cruise and see the world,
I like having some one else make my bed and clean the bathroom, Do the laundry, and make dinner.
And serve me drinks by the pool. I feel like I'm the Queen for a week.
