Thread: Code Alpha, Bravo, Oscar, Adam, etc. ???

Most of us know what it means when we're sailing under Code Red.

What do some of the other Codes mean when they're annouced on the speakers?

Alpha is a medical emergency ... but Bright Star seems to be some sort of medical emergency too.

Think Bravo means fire ... don't want to hear that one!

Does Oscar mean man-overboard?

No clue what Adam means....

Bright star is a death and Adam is a missing child

Oscar is man overboard and code Adam could be missing child...

One evening for dinner in AnyTime Dining we just happened to be seated with the ship's doctor. No wonder he immediately excused himself for Bright Star.

That's when they have norovirus and have to disinfect the ship. Major precautions are put in place to inhibit the spread of the disease.

"Adam" -- we hear that one on land as well in various stores when a child is missing.

Code Red -- have been on too many ships with that one!! Noro Virus!!

Bright Star -- have heard that one a number of times -- even in the middle of the night. And once as we were disembarking -- captain passed out from a bad cold and had to be hospitalized for a couple of days.

Code Orange -- all HAL ships now have this for the first 48 hours as a precaution for the Noro Virus. Lido is not self service during this time. But pools and other areas are still open.

Being in the security field each company uses different code names or numbers . Just rember when you hear that code called out over the P.A. get OUT of the way of the crew heading to assist even if it is not life threating.

On Cunard a fire was priority 1, priority 2 was a leak. I know about the leak as someone left a tap on in the ladies toilet above the Library and the water stard to drip though the roof and onto the desk. That is what was announced after she had called it in.

Code alfa was a medical emergancy.

The Adam Code was named for Adam Walsh, the little boy who was sadly abducted and killed years ago. I looked up on wikipedia and this should explain further:
