from what i read on another board it seems he jumped and how sad that at 18 he felt he had no other option. i pray for his family.

One of my sons friends committed suicide just before he turned 18. His funeral was the saddest event I have ever been too. After a few months I went and had coffee with his Mum. She told me that it was all down to drugs. Although there were none in his system when he died apparently the roller coaster of emotions that he was going through because of these evil chemicals was frightening for both him and his family. They thought he had it beat but he was left with such awful depression he couldn't deal with it and believed he had no choice.

How can a young man believe suicide is the answer?

I can't even imagine what his family and friends are going through.

Have they declared this a suicide? Given the boy's age, it could be horseplay that went too far. That has happened in the past.

I don't think either reason would be more comforting for the family, frankly.

My husband said that they have stopped searching as of last night...

terribly tragic for the family... suicide is never the answer but for those that suffer from depression, they don't think there is another answer. As parents, we think we 'know' our teens but the sad reality is, they are great at hiding their true feelings and we never really know what exactly is going on in their minds.

Praying for the family...

Since there were several witnesses who saw him jump, I think it would be considered it a suicide.
