Are recent tragedies causing you to rethink your cruise plans?

Will the tragedies of the past two days with the MILLENNIUM private shore excrusion disaster that left 12 dead, and the massive STAR PRINCESS fire cause you to change or alter your future cruise plans?

Cheers~
Nicki

No. Tragedies happen right here in the city where I live. You just go on and hope for the best.

No not at all!! Things happen no matter where you are, just pay attention to the life boat drill, announcements, and if there is an emergency don't hesitate!! There would be staff everywhere to help, just start moving!!

My Signature Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

We went to London last summer and two weeks (to the day!) before our arrival, Al Queda bombed the Tube and the buses. We didn't think anything of it (in relation to cancelling our plans). A week to the day copycats tried the same stunt. Others from our M&M cancelled their pre-cruise London package. My mom called me in a panic asking if we were considering it. My DH even had doubts. I refused to give in to the chaos and the terrorists. After the initial shock, my DH agreed. We went to London anyway...despite the fear of terrorism. We were more vigilant as travelled throughout London, but we used the Tube exclusively and never had a problem...

Such incidences ARE travesties, but it's not enough to stop me from travelling altogether.

Of course not.

But it does make me feel connected to those who have suffered this week. It could have happened to any of us who choose cruising as a vacation.

Just like a plane crash or an automobile accident or even a fire in a home. Life happens that way. We just have to cherish what we have.

Definetly not. We have always had the mindset that, If it's meant to happen it will, were ever you are. I am not going to live my life in fear just because something could happen.

Yes, Definintely!

I'm now going to continue with my April Transatlantic cruise plans but will remember to enjoy each moment and live life to it's fullest. I'll remember how precious life is and when we are blessed with an opportunity to travel on such wonderful trips I will be sure to thrive with each moment. I will not stop living but will embrace and enjoy. All while remembering those who have suffered such losses.

Wonderful answer! and my sentiments, exactly. Every day is precious. Sadly, we are all subject to a tragic reminder of this from time to time in our lives. Let some good come from it and remember to embrace the moment.

Yesterday is history
Tomorrow is a mystery
Today is a gift...that's why they call it the present!

Nicki, I was pretty rattled when I read about the Celebrity excursion in Chile, since we hope to sail the Infinity to Chile in January. But being rattled is just a part of life these days. There is no way I will let that upset our plans.

My husband and I have been to Israel right before the US was going into Iraq, and everyone said we were crazy. We cruised on a Royal Caribbean ship 2 months after a man mysteriously disappeared on one of their ships, and we didn't take our walkie-talkies.

3 years ago we booked a cruise in the middle of hurricane season, and our travel agent pointed out that we were taking a risk traveling then. I reminded her that by staying in Houston during hurricane season, we were taking a risk also, and that at least on a ship, they would do the evacuation for us.

I could stay at home 90% of the time, and stay as safe as I can. Or I can drive the Houston freeways, fly on airplanes, eat sushi and see the world. If I don't leave home, I will miss all that my city has to offer. If I never fly, I won't get to see most of my family. Yes, I am taking a gamble, but the stakes are ones I'm willing to bet on.

I know that many don't share my views, but I don't think they have to.
