Saw some at Labadee in October of 2000. There were only a few but they were big suckers and easy to stay away from.

I haven't encountered jellyfish, but I was attacked by 'Sand Fleas' in St. Lucia in the Summer one time. Their name means nothing, they were in deep water.

    None for us either!

While the Caribbean never gets cold, the water is cooler in the winter when we almost always cruise. Thinking that might have something to do with the lack of jellyfish.

Not in the Caribbean ... but, once, my DH was stung by a jellyfish while hooka diving (like snuba) off the coast of Key West in June.

I've seen them - schools of really small ones at CocoCay... also an occasional larger one. Never been stung.

Here's a pic of one I encountered in Grand Cayman about three years ago. It was about the size of a volleyball.

The Atlantic is loaded with them. It seems like they arrive if the water gets real warm.

I jumped into the water from our boat one time and didn't realize until I was mid-air that I was going to land on top of a bunch of them. I was stung pretty bad on one side of my body. I never jump into water without looking first anymore.
