Did you ever think of Bummin for the cruise??

I love Formal night, and I do like looking pretty good during the day, but have you ever just wanted to bum out for the whole week?? Eat in the buffet, and just chill out on deck?? I have!! But I can only cruise once a year, so that stops me from doing it!!
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

Absolutely! Formal night is not particularly appealing to us. We have to attend several black tie affairs throughout the year, so having to play dress up on the ship is not something we really like to do. We have deliberately left our formal wear at home and we eat at the Windjammer or have dinner in our cabin on formal nights.

The temptation is great, but haven't and won't. We enjoy the dining room meals too much, and formal night(s) are a great time to see how other people dress for the occasion. I don't dress up much (never did) so it's kind of interesting.

This is the main reason I'm reluctant to go on a cruise. I don't like all that getting dressed up. So you can leave that part off if you want? Crusing is looking more interesting to me now.

Yeah. No one's forcing you to eat in the dining room. There's always other options for your meals: buffets, grill, etc.

On Cunard's Atlantic crossings, every night out of six, but the first and last, are formal. The first and last nights are informal, jacket and tie for us gents.

Not all the gents on formal nights wear a tux, those who don't, have on a dark suit, with very few exceptions.

There are always a few Scotsmen in Kilts, and a few military officers in formal military dress.

One of the most elegant women I can remember on a cruise was a Japanese woman who wore a kimono. She looked gorgeous, elegant and sophisticated.

The women in their gowns, furs, and jewels are a beautiful sight.

Almost everyone lives up to the occasion, and I've never heard anyone complain about it. Even us poor folk in the cheap cabins

Sue for only one time in 10 cruises did we skip a formal night.........that was on the Caribbean Princess..........by the second formal night we had had bad service in the anytime dining room.........were fed up with the extra 500 passengers on board..........and a group of us just went to the buffet for the second formal night..........

I will say the food was just as good and plentiful and it gave me a new perspective on formal night..........maybe formal night isn't ALL that it is made out to be..........

But we have only done it that one time.

This year I am exausted from being sick last month!! would just love to get in the car, drive over, and just bum out for the week!! I can't cause Robin is going and I won't screw it up for her, dining is really special for us, but if we were alone, Dickie would be eating buffet!!

The cruise we just returned from last week was just exactly that. We wanted a totally relaxing week with nothing formal or even dressy. We ate all our meals in the Windjammer when we wanted and relaxed by the pool most of the days. I was not happy with the ship nor the food (that's another story), but I certainly did relax. I am seriously thinking of doing all my future cruises like this. I loved it.
