Jeff brought up a very good point. Yes, you definitely want a balcony if at all possible for Alaska.

We have been to Alaska twice and have another scheduled for next June on the Sapphire Princess. All of our cruises have been on Princess and they were fantastic. I would definitely recommend a balcony. Having sailed out of Seattle and also Vancouver I would highly recommend sail out of Vancouver (go in a few days early if possible, Vancouver is a great city).
