I suck at math!! 20 to 25 knots I believe!!
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

    Hi Sue

Although QE2 is perfectly capable of this speed, she rarely does it. Just like in a car, the faster you go the more fuel you use, and the higher your fuel bill.
QE2's service speed on an Altantic crossing would be about 25 knots, and about 21 -22 knots on an island cruise, just like other ships.
A very fun fact about QE2 is that she can go faster full speed astern than many ships can go full speed forward!

SS United States 40+ knots top speed

"To this day, the westbound crossing record of the SS United States stands unbroken. The eastbound crossing had been achieved at an average speed of 35.59 knots and the return more difficult westbound crossing at 34.51 knots average speed." http://ssunitedstatesconservancy.org/History.html
