As most of you know, since I have such limited vacation time each year from work and since I have a particular list of places I'd like to go, I always book a cruise on my own. If someone else I know is going, great, but I don't book a cruise based on what others are doing.

Joel and I previously cruised alone but ended up meeting some great people on our last one and now we are cruising with them!!!!!
Yeah, we met a couple on our last cruise, they crashed our dining room table on the ship, drank all our gift champagne, and booked on all our future cruises.

Now we can't seem to shake them! Why they've even come and stayed in our home, they drank all our wine, and wore us out!

(Hey, love you guys more than my luggage!)

To answer the question, I used to cruise with one group informally- that is, people wouldn't travel together, just end up on the same ship all the time. And then we cruised alone for a while. But now, we've met such fun people on cruises and on various boards, that it's getting tough to coordinate everyone's schedules... Lots o' fun, though.

We have some close friends who my hubby decided early on that they would be incompatible traveling companions for us (the man is too frugal, the woman too high maintenance). So we go alone with our kid. That way, we're not dependent on other people's schedules or whims. This last cruise was the first one we went on since I started going on this and another board so I got to meet some people ahead of time (someone on the CC rollcall was assigned to our dining table so we saw him and his family every night except for when they went to the specialty restaurants).

Back-To-Back Cruises are great for doing BOTH!

It's wonderful for us to have some time with no commitments the first week ... and, then, be joined by friends for the second!
