Question Have you ever regretted bookinga cruise?

After recent tragedies that made headlines - a cruise ship lost all power, a passenger was killed in port, and a ship capsized - did you ever wish you had not booked a cruise to take soon? Did an unexpected event that forced you to cancel it make you wish you had not booked a cabin?

It happened to me six years ago. I wanted to take a 15-night solo cruise to Hawaii - round trip San Diego - because of the itinerary and desire to travel alone. Unfortutnately, I did not think it through before booking it. Mom read my next bank statement, which had the $850 payment on it, and was so mad at me she said if I can't control my money, she will become my guardian again. She also made me cancel and get the money back. That was not parental control going to far. It was my lack of thought about what I can do and should do.

My only regret is not booking some good deals while they were still hot!

Never looked back once a cruise is booked.

Those headline grabbing incidents are not the norm for cruising...they are the exception.

No I have never regretted book a cruise, sometimes I wish I had waited so I could have taken advantage of a really good deal on that or another cruise.

I agree with Char. The only time I have regretting booking a cruise is when a better deal came along and I was already committed.
We were booked to cruise on the Splendor a couple months after the fire. It was cancelled but we were able to book a replacement for the same week at about the same price.
We were also booked on a RCL cruise that was cancelled and got a good deal on a replacement.
Things happen and we just go with the flow.

Andrea- I was on the Noordam when it happened and yes it was the Noro virus. The ship reported it to the CDC as Noro so I think that made it official. It happened three days in to the cruise so I doubt that I could have had it before going on the cruise.

Getting it was a major inconvenience but that was not my big complaint. What I am complaining about was how HAL handled it. Little things like providing Gatorade to keep up my electrolyte levels - then charging me $5 for the water bottle that I had to mix it with, charging me for Sprite which was one of the few things I could keep down (never mind that I was not using any dining facility during that time), when I was getting better and craving french toast and them saying that it was not on the room service menu so they would not send me any - despite being available up in the buffet, and charging me for DVD's when there was nothing else for me to do since I was confined to my cabin. Then the ship supplied hair dryer exploded in my hands giving me second degree burns.

It was not a good cruise.
