Even though the cruise lines of our choice (RCCL and Celebrity) usually offer a special the first night, we usually eat in the MDR so we can meet our table mates. We have been at tables where we've been the only two because others are taking advantage of the special. Most times everyone is there and we get off to a good start for our cruise. We've had wonderful luck with our mates and have made good friends this way.

Always in the MDR first night , gives time to assess the speciality ones.

Could not agree more with Garry and what she said. It is always the MDR for us the first night.

The MDR every time. Sometimes we may eat in the buffet (on our last cruise we did many times as we didn't care for anytime dining) if not feeling up to dressing up. Never had dinner in the specialty restaurants. We'll often eat lunch from the grill.

The MDR always, not just the first dinner but most other meals.

We use the buffet if going on an early shore excursion, and for snacks.

Not very often do we use the speciality restaurants.

Only the MDR or a Speciality Restaurant for us and every other night as well.

Back when we did Traditional Dining, we'd always be interested in meeting our new tablemates ... sort of like a blind date ... never know what they'll be like.

Now with Anytime Dining, we sometimes find it very relaxing to have dinner in a Speciality Restaurant on the first night.

You do Tony. That's the reason we'd be anxious to meet our dinner companions for the entire cruise that first night ... when we had Traditional Dining.
