Thread: Emergency Contact: Whose name & number do you give?

Who do you give as your Emergency Contact while cruising?

For years we gave the name & number of one of our DDs (when they were no longer curising with us) or a close family member.

Now, we list our TA as our Emergency Contact. Our TA is easy to contact and knows the names and numbers of our children. She would immediately know the right questions to ask should an emergency call come.

Well, our daughter lives in Argentina, our son NEVER returns phone calls or answers his phone, so last cruise we gave my MIL's number. She was staying at our house, so it seemed like a smart move.

Usually her parents land-line, however her mom never answers call waiting...

True Story -- my mom is on a (RCL) cruise this week. I am in class my cell starts to ring with a 954 number. (we put my cell as an emergency contact). I ran out of the class room answering practically shaking - it was NCL soliciting me. I said do not call me again and hung up... Never been so happy to get a telemarketing call in my life!

On the the other side of this ... while cruising, we always panic when there is a message and are so happy when it's not from HOME!

Joey, you were a TA. How did you feel about people listing you, as their TA, as their Emergency Contact?

I use my sister as my mother is usually on the cruise with me

That did not bother me.. I would.. in turn ...ask my clients for another contact just in case of an actual emergency.. most gave me one.. I only had two clients that said" we really don't have any one for you to contact"... that kinda worried me..but luckily i was never called for a TRUE emergency...
