How often do you normally have dinner in the MDR?

How often do you normally go to the Main Dining Room for dinner?

When you don't go to the MDR, where do you go to eat?

It's a poll so please mark yours.

We eat in the dining room most nights but we do like to eat in the specialty restaurants and depending on how many of them the ship has determines how many times we don't eat in the dining room. Sometimes we'll eat in the same specialty restaurant 2-3 times if we enjoy the experience.

Mostly we choose the Main Dining Room, but sometimes we also go to one of the Speciality Restauraunts or even the Self Serve Restaurant. It all depents what we did over the day, and what we are up to for the Evening. For example if we had eaten in the Cruisports etc.

I put most nights , it is only on long cruises where I need to have a break and not eat so much that we would skip an MDR experience.

About HALF the time for us. We love having dinner in the speciality restaurants. If it's a late evening port of call, we enjoy eating at a local restaurant.

Also, lots depends on the ship. We like the food in the MDR better on some ships than we do on others.

Of my four cruises, two I ate in the MDR everynight, our first cruise some of the specialty restaurants were free so we ate in the Italian and Spanish restaurants on the Gem. On the other cruise it was our friends 60th birthday and we ate in the Steakhouse to celebrate.

I would rather eat in the MDR. To me the specialty restaurants just make you pay twice for food you already paid for and is the better quality product that used to be served in the MDR anyway, it becomes more of a punishment than a treat which is the experience I would hope to get from a so called upscale restaurant. just my opinon and your wave height may vary.

Sometimes, for variety, or if we are docked late and want to spend the evening off the ship, we will have sushi or pasta upstairs.

We tried the specialty restuarant once and found it to be too much food. Somehow, when you are paying extra, you feel you should eat it! In the MDR, we usually skip some courses.

We prefer not to dine in the MDR - it's way too frantic. We purposely book so that we can eat elsewhere and at a time that we decide, i.e. Grill/Club on Cunard. I like a calm dining environment, but don't go to the speciality restaurants as have found our preferred choices to be more than satisfactory. Have just booked a Celebrity cruise and gone for Aqua for the Blu experience. Hope it's going to be okay. Am quietly confident that it will suit us.
