I get them all the time.
When things are good, I dream I am wandering the hallways of the ship or sitting down to dinner with friends, celebrities, royalty, etc. I dream I'm opening the door to my cabin and it's a two-story suite with floor to ceiling windows - stuff like that.
And starting a few weeks before a cruise, I usually have cruise anxiety dreams where I'm late to the ship, have to swim to catch her, can't find the port, can't find my cabin, the weather is rough, etc.
Several months ago on another board, one cruiser posted about waiting forever in the boarding queue only to find that there were no ramps to the ship. Pax had to be loaded into a log-flume-ride contraption and shot out a cannon to get to the ship!
What about you? Have you had any good cruise dreams? If I end up with some good ones, I'll probably write an article about them, but I will ask permission before I quote anyone.
Just to make it fair and all, here's one of my cruise dreams:
I was boarding a the Zuiderdam with a large group of people from the board. Some were cruising, and some were boarding to say farewell to friends and family and then leave the ship (yes, I know HAL doesn't allow that). We were all laughing and having a good time. We ate lunch in the MDR, strolled the decks and then filtered off to find our cabins. I was sleepy, so once in my room (a vanilla balcony or OV), I laid down to take a nap.
I woke up in the passenger seat of a large SUV being driven AWAY from the port by some of the forum people. Groggy and disoriented, I tried to explain that I was supposed to be ON the ship, not leaving with those who had said farewell.
Once we got that straightened out, the driver politely asked me to let him make the arrangements to get back to the ship. He was, you see, a secret HAL enforcer. Enforcers are pax who, in exchange for hefty discounts, stroll the ship making sure all of the non-pax disembark before sailing and report any other rule-breaking to security. Since he'd accidentally disembarked me, he took it upon himself to return me to the ship - but with a strong admonishment not to reveal him as an enforcer.
He turned the car around and got on his cell phone. The ship was already underway, and we had some tense moments waiting to hear if she would turn around. She did, but I would have to wade out to meet her. (Good thing my luggage was already onboard!)
As I waded, I came across someone's purse floating in the water. It was huge and heavy, but I dragged it along, looking through it while wading to see if I could find and call the owner.
At the ship, I had to climb what seemed like miles of narrow, circular iron stairs to get back on. On the way, I met the Captain who said the reason they'd disembarked me was that I'd been found asleep on his bed in his quarters and they'd assumed I was drunk (I have the occasional glass, but I've never been anywhere*near* that impaired!). I assured the Captain that my key had opened the door, and I'd had no intention of trespassing or usurping his cabin. I thanked him for coming back to get me. We chalked it up to a misunderstanding and shook hands.
How's that for weird??
