Do you usually stay the night before a cruise?

Do you stay in a hotel pre cruise or do you take your chances?

We ALWAYS stay in a hotel at least 1 Day before the cruise. That way, if the flight is has delays or such it won't be a problem. We like to be safe.

I stay at least one night pre-cruise so that I can arrive at the ship in a calm mood having dealt with the possibilities of fog or mechanical delays on my flight and if luggage had gone astray it can be located before I board.

Yes! If we have to fly to a port we always go a day ahead to give us wiggle room in case there are any difficulties.

We had our luggage go astray once. Both checked bags went to Charlotte instead of Ft. Lauderdale-- and it was delivered to us at 5AM on the morning of embarkation. Not a happy feeling!

we have no choice but to stay in hotels pre cruise

for starters we have to stay in a hotel near our airport before our early morning flight

then since we have no direct flights to anywhere anymore -- there is no choice but to book a hotel in the embarkation precruise -- just in case something happens to one of the flights

Always try to get a few days pre cruise and a few day after, especially if we are doing a transatlantic, and starting and ending in a different port.

Cruise in a few weeks just having one night at Miami Beach, only because we booked it in UK and too short notice to extend our stay in USA.

A few years ago we were going to board a MSC shop in Genoa. We flew with a budget airline from UK to Genoa, it was foggy and we were held up for 30 minutes, whilst planes landed. Did not realise other UK airports were closed due to the fog.

Arrived at ship around 12:30, when we departed an announcement was made we were to pick up passengers in Barcelona as their planes never made it in time.

After this would never go the same day as the cruise, did not realise how lucky we were.

For many years, we (Mom, sis and I) would take cruise air so we felt safe taking an overnight flight to Europe. We always made it. Now that things have changed with airlines, I find it safer to fly in at least one day early. This summer my cruise buddy and I are flying in 4 days early to visit London. Using hotel points.... nice! For cruises leaving FLL, I usually come in early the day of the cruise.
