How much vacation time are you given?

For those cruisers who work, how much vacation time are you given a year by your employer?

I used to only get 10 business days a year. Then this year my boss increased it to 12 business days, plus as a bonus I get 3 extra days to make it 15 business days...

We have two weeks paid vacation, but from Jan - Apr every year, we work about 4 additional weeks of overtime, which I "bank" and take additional holidays. Works well for me.......:headbang2

Hmmm...
I'm self employed, so there's no such thing as 'paid' vacation.

I just try to arrange my work schedule around my cruising schedule, and hope that in between, I am able to produce revenue to cover living expenses, retirement savings AND cruises.

Some years are better than others.

Brooke - Jan - Apr... is that your busy period? is that like tax season for you guys?

Ally - that must be nice! 6 weeks of vacation! I couldn't imagine it! we get paid public holidays as well, but that only makes I think 11 days a year for us!

The employment laws over this side of the pond are very much the results of many years of strikes and union activity.

The average is 4-6 weeks plus Publics, sometimes more and sometimes less, all dependant on the type of employment and the employer. We also now are moving into the European Work Directive which states no-one works more than 48 hours a week, there are a few exeptions but not many.

Canada has so many holidays, they are off every other week for some holiday.
Queens day, Victoria day, Hoser day, etc. Must be nice.
And I am not "given" any vacation. I earn every darned day. I'm very busy here!

Hi, I get seven weeks a year, but that includes bank holidays. Poor Hubby gets less though.
