Banff is about an hour north of Calgary. Its supposed to be goregous. I've heard people compare it to Glacier National Park in Montana (?) only a lot nicer...

We were in Banff a few years ago. That's an understatement for sure

Dry Land Cruise to Las Vegas in
Maybe we are winning enough for our next cruise OR NOT
Hmmm...
I'm self employed, so there's no such thing as 'paid' vacation.
I just try to arrange my work schedule around my cruising schedule, and hope that in between, I am able to produce revenue to cover living expenses, retirement savings AND cruises.
Some years are better than others.
I could not have said it better! Ditto here.

I don't get a single paid vacation day, I sign a contract every year to work X amount of days, I have several choices. I can take 31 non-work days, 10 non-work days, 5 non-work days or none at all. Of course, the non-work is unpaid. The good part about my job is they split your contract into 12 equal months, so even when you don't work, you're still getting paid. Since it is a school, I do get off 2 weeks at winter break, one week spring break and we go almost year round, so I get off 4 weeks , usually August, in the summer. It works out to about 7 weeks a year.
DH, on the other hand, is self employed and like any self emplyed individual, loses $ when he takes time off. Just think how many cruises we could go on if he had paid time off!
Gems of the Baltics cruise! in

7/05 - Serenade of the Seas - Alaska
9/04 - Jewel of the Seas - Canada/New England
7/04 - Zuiderdam - Western Caribbean
7/03 - Zaandam - Alaska
4/03 - Norweigan Star - Hawaii
7/96 - Noordam - Alaska
7/96 - Golden Princess - Alaska
8/94 - Carnival Jubilee - Mexican Riviera
Can I complain and say " Not enough" Actually I get 20 days off a year that works into 4 weeks. This next year I am spreading this into 4 cruises a total of 28 days on a ship
The bad part is my husband has been at his job for 19 years and gets 4 weeks plus 2 floating holidays. He is under a Union and has been with out a contract for almost 3 years and they are threatening to take away possibley 2 weeks of his vacation plus his floating holidays. He has not had a raise in over 4 years and thay also want to reduce his pay by 40%. Trust me his income is not overly high now. So this could hurt future cruise bookings. I think I can still swing next year but if car sales do not get going strong again we will definitely have to slow down our cruising
