SHORT Port Days: Do they annoy you?

Does having a Short Port Stop (6 hours or less) at a port of call annoy you. How so?

It's multi because several may apply.

Normally, we much prefer Full Day Port Stops. The ones that annoy us most are those with Morning stops at a port of call.

Have to admit there are some ports where the shorter the time in port is ... the better.

It really depends on a lot of factors:
Is the town close to the ship?
Can you walk off the ship and be right in town?
Does the town have much to offer?
    What ship excursions are offered?
Can you hire a private guide in the area?

It would depend on the port but if we're on a cruise for the Ship Experience I have to say I'd rather be sailing. But again when the ship is in Port and we stay onboard we usually have the place to ourselves!! You have to make with what you have. I can tell you I'd rather have fewer Ports on a cruise if the time in Port is just 6 hours or so....

I have only ever been on one cruise, but I would think that if I had never been to a port before, that we would enjoy being able to sightsee a bit without worrying about getting back to the ship the moment we stepped off the ship!

It would depend on the port, but short stays tend to leave you feeling like you have to rush. But if the choice is a short stay or not calling at all, I would settle for the short stay.

I only had one short call, last month in Freeport when we left at 2PM. It didn't annoy me as my excursion to the Garden Groves and Lucaya shopping area and city tour were plenty, we got back to the ship at 1 in time for lunch and then relaxed in the beautiful weather as we left port and started heading home. I could see it being annoying if you are a beach goer.

I'm with you Lulu. I figure we are on vacation, and I don't want to be rushing around, but we get to a port in the early morning, it's a tender port, and we only have 4 hours ashore. OUCH! The good part is that I have all afternoon on the ship to recuperate.

It's not a biggie for me, even though my hubby was saying he felt ships should stay longer than just say, 8 hours. I told him that I thought the ports are charging by the hour, which would explain why many port stays aren't through the evening.

I wish some where longer then they are. I had a great time at a couple of ports, that I really didn't want to leave. St. Kitts, Antigua just to name a couple. Really didn't want to leave these two islands.
