Pete - While I totally would understand going to Canada over the caribbean in a hurricane it would upset me a little because what I would pack for the Caribbean would not be what I'd wear in Canada. I'd have to make a hasty little visit to the gift shop for sweatshirts. Even in July I was freezing in Canada and while I may be an unusual case my suitcase would not fit that itinerary. LOL

I have just had this happen to me, I was due to visit Charleston, but we are now going to Nassau. I have not been to either port, but I was really looking forward to Charleston. The reason given was that the port was full so they had to change to another. Not sure I believe that as I booked the cruise 19 months ago so they have had plenty of notice.

As Pete has said, I am sure there wil lbe some who will do nothing but complain about the change, I will just be glad to be on a ship.

Having said that one of the calls is Bermuda and I would be very unhappy if that port was dropped as it's the main reason for booking this cruise.

Cruises booked: Queen Victoria August 2012 and Queen Elizabeth December 2012.

Cancellation of one port is no big deal...anything more than that I think you should get some sort of compensation.

I sailed on the Sapphire Princess the week of April 25, 2009 with my friend Wendy and it was going to be my first Mexican Riviera cruise. We were having dinner the evening before we reached PV and the Captain came over the PA and announced that due to Swine Flu we wouldn't be visiting Mexico during that cruise. Our new ports were now Ensenada (no pax allowed off the ship), San Diego and Catalina. We were already on the cruise and there was obviously no way to cancel the cruise, but Princess responded (after a few days) by giving us half our money back in the form of a future cruise credit. We were more than happy with the compensation and thoroughly enjoyed the cruise anyway. We had never been to Catalina and made the best of the situation. We had 5 days at sea (if you count Ensenada since we couldn't get off the ship) and we enjoyed every minute of it.
