I was lucky in that I was doing a round trip to Cape Town and we had managed to visit St Helana on the south bound leg. I was hoping to take a tour of the island on the return leg, but it was not to be. Maybe I will get back there one day.

We missed St. John Nova Scotia on our TA when we were stuck in St. Johns Newfoundland due to the weather. The ship was scheduled to leave but decided not to because of the bad fog in the harbor. Because of that we had the most gorgeous departure from St. Johns early the next morning. Everyone on the ship had a delightful night as the city rolled out the red carpet for us. Bars were swinging, restaurants were open. It was wonderful.

Instead we went to Halifax whcih we just loved.

On our cruise from hell on the HAL Noordam, I missed two ports when I caught the Noro virus and one port when I got severely burned when the ship supplied hair dryer exploded in my hand giving me second degree burns. I spent several hours in the infirmary waiting to be treated and I missed my shore excursion. A total waste of time, the infirmary does not have a first aid kit. I finally just left and went back to the cabin and waited for Deb to get back. Then we went on a whirlwind 2 hour cab ride of Aruba so I could say that the cruise was not a total waste.
