NauticalMiss, I understand how you feel, but want to point out that the zipline stays above the balconies. It's true that the person riding it could look down at the balconies if they were so inclined, but if you were on the balcony, you would have to look up to see the wire.

Here is a video to show what I mean:

I just have this image of someone one the zipline glancing into a balcony room and seeing a couple who don't realize that they are in the glidepath...

People on a zipline tend to look where they are going rather than down or side to side. Part of it is fear, and part of it is not having enough time. But you can have your image, Neal!

Neal, the zipline is really fast--only a few seconds. I don't think you would have time to look but concentrate on timing your landing with setting your feet down. We heard someone miss and crashed into the padded wall!

Wow - look at all those passengers gathering to look into the inward-facing balconies - oops, sorry, I mean to watch the zipline.........

I think the YouTube clip from the Oasis rests my case - why on earth would anybody pay for an inward-facing balcony? No privacy and no horizon to gaze dreamily at?

Odd...I didn't attach the You Tube video to my post! Anyway, the elderly couple sitting next to us at dinner had one of those rooms. They seemed to like it but I don't think I would.

Maybe those balconies are for people who are afraid of water. Why would they go on a cruise? Because their family dragged them? Because it's a great way to vacation? I ahve no idea, but RC must have done a lot of research before taking a chance on building them - and they are selling!

Folks who like to "People Watch" from their own balcony would enjoy!

I'm another *other* vote! I'm getting ready to cruise on the largest ship we have been on to date in December. I have been on some smaller ships (Leeward and Sky) and have to admit to really liking them more than the Pearl, however we are completely changing lines and looking forward to seeing how we feel about the Eclipse before I total decide on small.
