If I can get a signal and have something to say. I pretty much live on my cell phone for work, but I've made a promise to Mrs. Vette73 that I will not do work on our cruise.

We only use it if we get a signal that is not roaming.

I'll check the phone messages at home and maybe call the kids to let them know we are having a great time, but it's not on my "to do" list.

I voted other, because it depends on who I'm cruising with. If it's DH then maybe 1 or 2 times during the cruise. If it's my friends, I'll call DH every 2 - 3 days to check-in, preferably when I'm on a land tower and not the ship's tower. There have been a couple times I was on the ship's tower when some things came up and people needed to get in touch with me, I try to keep those calls real short ($4.99/minute) if I can!

I keep the phone off while at sea. When we get off the ship, I may check to make sure there aren't any messages (most of the time I get messages in Spanish from people who think I'm various Hispanic people -- not kidding). If we need to get a cab (I try to research the local taxi companies and have a list of phone numbers in my purse) and we can't find one, I may use it. But the last time I've tried to get a cab (the driver had dropped us off and said he'll pick us up after we got done), I couldn't get a signal -- that was in Honolulu 5 years ago, and I ended up using a pay phone. The only message I got on this last cruise was the shuttle service "confirming" our pick up. I had to find a quiet place to listen to the message, which was difficult. And then the shuttle service ended up sending the driver to my home, rather than the port.

I'm not a phone person anyway so it's fine if people don't call me to gab. And I don't want to sit on the deck of a ship and gab away. And I dislike it when others are doing that.

As a phone? Once only, and it was my mother. Link many others, I do NOT want to hear folks yakking on their phones.

As a clock, web browser, camera, flashlight and Kindle reader? Lots n lots.

We take ours but only keep them on at the embarkation/disembarkation terminal.

When I'm with the luggage and he's with the car, we can communicate.

When we do Caribbean cruises we don't even take our cell phone with us.

But for Alaska -- when in Seattle -- we need it for our limo service.

I don't even take mine with me. Bob takes his, but it's turned off during the cruise. He may turn it on once we're off the ship, but sometimes he doesn't check for messages until we're at the airport waiting for our flight.
