    For the most part, I think missing a few nights in the MDR is no big deal. Yes, let your waiter or tablemates know if at all possible.

    I would say that if you knew in advance that you'd only be eating in the MDR one or two nights during your cruise, then it might be wiser to request open seating due to the scarcity of 2-tops. To me, however, it doesn't rise to the level of rudeness.

    My thoughts exactly Char. It's your vacation. You do what you want. But be courteous to your waiters and fellow table mates and let them know not to expect you.
