sure...a shabby GS which I didnt want and for sure didnt ask for. Its not my problem RC goes and give away cabins left, right and center.
My travel incurance have paid for all the extra outgoings we had getting to the ship. The airlines have refunded the air ticketsNow its time for RC to owe up to their loyal customers...I did not get to Diamond statues (as of now 12 cruise credits) in less then 3 years by booking inside cabins. I.e. what I am asking RC to compensate me is a mear drop in the ocean compared to what I have spent on them over the years.

Hubby has always been against buying it, but he's changed his mind for future cruises. We did have a situation for our Alaskan cruise when his father was on the decline. His mother said, go. His father hung on for about a week until after we returned. But I think losing his mother has made him rethink things.

Lars, I have never bought travel insurance. So far I have not needed it. I always thought they did not pay. What company did you use for this trip? Are you requesting a full refund from RCI? Did you have a smooth trip home or did you need to rebook you return flight? Thanks in advance for taking the time to reply. Lee![]()
Lee, the point with getting a travel insurance is because you never know when you might need it but when you do you are very happy your got one.
You might get sick and need to go to a hospital - without an insurance it could cost you lots of money. You are covered for lost luggage, delays, death, imobility etc.
I have a annual travel insurance through my bank and it covers more then the basic.
The insurance companies do pay!!! - You know if you travel from your home to meet me in Stocholm and unfortunalty loose your mobile you can claim it on your travel insurance
The trip home was very pleasant...We stayed a day in Oslo and took the train back home -all on schedule.
I asked Royal Caribbean for a compensation and as of today they obliged.
You hope you never need it because if you need it and don't have it, you'll wish you did have it. As I said earlier, you hope it's a waste of your money, because if you need it, it's usually not for a good reason. And without it, you could have outrageous expenses coming your way.
As the old saying goes, "It's better to be safe than sorry."
Don't know where you've been getting your information about insurance companies not paying, because they do pay. I've been doing this for a long time and my clients who have had to put a claim in have all received full reimbursement. Some of these have been some pretty hefty expenses, including a party of 10 that had to cancel because one person had an emergency appendectomy. All 10 received all their money back from the insurance company.
There is, however, a difference between travel insurance and travel protection, and those companies who offer travel protection will often find reasons not to pay. So don't get the two mixed up.

Please, please, please always purchase travel insurance!
Even when you don't seem to need it for example a Miami resident travelling on a cruise ship out of Miami. There are a few pitfalls that may not even happen but if they do can be very costly.
Did you know if it possible for your luggage to just go missing from the pier to the ship? 99 times out of 100 its found by the next morning but if its not found most of the cruise ships have a liability of $25 per day. No where near enough to get by for the rest of the trip and certainly doesn't replace what it is you lost.
Also there is a law that not many people know about unless the circumstances specifically occur to them call the Jones act. It prohibits international cruise ships taking passengers from one US port to another and allowing them to disembark permanently without another port in between. For example many ships go Miami, Key West Cozumel. If you have an emergency in Key West and need to disembark permanently there is a fine per person disembarking (last I knew $250 USD per person). The cruise ship companies will generally not permit you to disembark unless you pay this prior. Big upfront cost and too much stress is already your worrying about medical bills, flights etc.
Best advice is just to buy it! But great advice from other people, shop around!
