Which Cruise Line should have its CEO go Undercover?

Which Cruise Line should have its CEO go Undercover?

Did anyone see the ads at the Superbowl, for a new TV show called, CEO/Exec Undercover? A prominent CEO of a huge company (the first one is Waste Management) goes undercover for a couple of weeks, working the jobs of regular employees. At the end of the show, everyone finds out who they've been working with and what he or she has learned about people and the company.

Our question is: Which cruise line would you like to see participate in this type of show? What do you think they could learn? Which jobs would you like them to perform? Feel free to write another cruise line or executive in...just make sure to tell us why your're choosing the line you select to go undercover.

I have a feeling this is not what you are looking for but these are my thoughts. ALL OF THEM. A CEO is in charge of everything, and for more than a couple of weeks, should work in every aspect of cruiseships to see and experience first hand what the entire crew deals with on a daily basis. The lowest rank on a ship is just as important as the captain to keep the daily workings running smooth, your strength is only as strong as your weakest link, Not only to improve customer service but also to keep your crew happy so the above is achieved. Assuming all managers work their way up, this is not always true, same for CEO's. They should get their hands dirty and work side by side with everyone, and that in turn should also gain trust.

Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

    Good Poll!

What I'd like to see the CEO of RCCL do is to sail as a regular pax in an ocean view cabin as a first time cruiser on a 7-Day cruise in the Caribbean on an older ship and to only have dinner in the MDR.

A CEO would have a better chance of "passing" as a passenger than as an employee ... without a leak because far less corporate people would need to know.

He could easily see how very overworked the room steward and waitstaff are. I picked RCCL because I hate the way the quality of their food in the MDR has slipped. Wonder how he'd feel about having to eat in the MDR every night!!!!

I had to put "other" as the president of Cunard spends a lot of time on board all be it in his "real job". So that would make it hard for him to go undercover.

The did a few series of something like this her called "Back to the floor". Some CEO's qot quite a shock when they found out what was going on.

The idea is a lot like the 1941 film, "The Devil and Miss Jones". The Devil and Miss Jones - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I saw the show. Very Interesting. I did put down Princess but wish there was an answer for all.

Plus they should go on as a Undercover Passenger. To see it from our Prospective too.

OK, so I voted for Mickey Arinson, for a couple of reasons.

    1. I think there is an actual possibility of him participating in the actual show. He seems like a good candidate.

    2. This would represent the overwhelming majority of cruise line employees, encompassing cruise brands all over the US and Europe. I feel as if he could speak to and for the most amount of people actually involved in bringing us the cruise vacation experiences we've come to expect.

I would also be interested in seeing a smaller lines' CEO go undercover, simply to see the inner workings of smaller ships.

Undercover Customer: Its a new show Heather and I are producing....look for it next Fall.

That's actually a really great idea and I wonder why we haven't seen something like this sooner. Even better: competitor's CEOs go to other companies.....oooh. controversy sells ads.

I think Mickey Arinson might be a bit too well known to last long undercover

I can only speak for Cunard but I have seen Carol Marlow on board QE2 a few times and Stephen Payne who is a VP of Carnival Corp although they were not undercover, I am sure people were not shy in letting them know what they thought.

I agree with Sue on this one. They all should. Too many times CEO's have absolutely no idea what the rank and file of a company do. I am sure a lot of them would get a rude surprise at finding out how little they are liked and how the work, is , well, work.

I get to toot the Southwest horn here. EVERY member of management DOES spend time in the ranks working and seeing what others are doing. In fact, it is often very enlightening to see pilots in the field doing the work of baggage handlers or flight attendants to see what the other people do and to get them out of their ivory towers.

Gary Kelly, our CEO, is well liked and respected by all and is not willing to ask anything that he is not willing to do. Case in point. Upper management took a 10% pay cut to guarantee that no one was to be laid off.
