#1 is Guadeloupe! Not only the worst in the Caribbean area ... but the worst port stop we've ever had ANYPLACE in the whole world we've ever cruised. They had signs: "Go Back To Ship" and "Go Away " etc. Happily, they got their wish! Major cruise lines are no longer stopping there.
Many may disagree ... but we don't care for Limon, Costa Rica or St. Lucia.
Also, while we love San Juan for a land trip or embarkation port, we really don't like to have a port stop there.
I've noticed these are all Caribbean area ports. I guess there'll be another poll for other areas that are non-Caribbean.
Have only been on two Caribbean cruises so I could only speak my opinion on those ports.
Cozumel. Sorry, it's Mexico, not interested.
Ochos Rios. Does seem dicey. My regret is that we didn't go check out Goldeneye, the place where Ian Fleming wrote many, if not all, of his James Bond novels. I can see why people otherwise would want to skip it. We had an interesting tour by our tour driver, but near the end he offered us ganga. Not interested.
San Juan. We did see Ft. Morro. Probably the one interesting part of the city to me. Don't need to return.
Would like to return to Grand Cayman. Seemed very civilized to me, but it was pouring rain so that limited my view of the pretty buildings. Enjoyed the two little museums we toured.
Would like to return to St. Thomas.

Patty,
I have to disagree with you on San Juan. Actually the city is interesting but what I really like is the rest of the island, in particular the rain forest. It is beautiful.

I did not vote for any. We have only been to the first few and would go back again. There are 2 ports that we try very hard to avoid, Nassua and Key West. Both of these ports are truly tourist traps. Of course we have been to Key West enough time by car that it holds no interest and Nassau was not very enjoyable, found more harrassement from shop owners there than any other place.

Did you take an organized excursion or rent a car to check out the island?

Great idea, Patty! Why don't YOU do one on non-Caribbean! That would be wonderful!
While we've been to Europe, Hawaii, South Pacific, etc. they were a while back. Also, the Caribbean is where we very much prefer to cruise and what I know best.... The Other clearly states (general Caribbean area).

We took a tour from HAL that time. We had an excellent guide who talked all the way to the rain forest and gave us many personal insights into the island. I wanted to see the sights, not just the roads as I was driving.

From the somewhat unpopular ports of call LISTED ... it seems most of us really don't wish go/return to Cartegena.
So far, our OTHERS (Caribbean area) where we don't want port stops:
Cozumel (1)
Key West (1)
Limon, Costa Rica (1)
Nassau (1)
San Juan (3) ... sorry, Neal
St.Lucia (1)
