What is your Opinon of Prices the Cruise line Charges of Drinks?

I have often heard many talk about the prices for drinks and bottles of wine and champagne. Some think they are too high. I will do this as a Poll.

Please Do Not Compare to what you would pay buying it from your local grocery store or liquor store. Yes I know that is cheaper one must compare to other land base resorts or restaurants that you go to.

First of all we can not buy alcohol in a grocery store.

PA is a state liquor control board - our prices are extremely high!!!
The taxes here are unbelievable. For a 1.75 bottle of Absolut - just bought the other day ON SALE we paid $31.95.

On ship board we can but a liter for $25 to be delivered to our cabin plus a $3.75 gratuity = $28.75.

In the bars we are charged $4.95 for barely 1 1/2 ounces. Too often we do not get the full amount as the bar tenders tend to "spill" some on their work area.

So we are getting ripped off!! Even compared to the prices we pay for a bottle of alcohol here in PA!

Better off to buy a bottle for your cabin!!

The key is to get to "know" your bartender on the very first day.........a well placed $10 gets you drinks that are "right" if you know what I mean for the rest of the cruise.........

We don't drink all that much, so I would say they are a little high, but as long as they get me a little high, thats ok.

The drink prices are no higher than any other bar, especially in Mich.We usually order a liter Of Bacardi Limon for our room for $22.50 and they don't charge gratuity on Princess. We usually buy drinks at the bars since it's a pain in the a-- to keep going back to our room to make a drink, but who cares. We're on vacation and we deserve to have a good time.

I am on holidays and I deserve a drink so I pay what they want. I still do not find it that high.

I agree that the prices are really pretty good. There was a time many years ago that prices were pretty good here in Vegas but over the past few years the have climbed quickly. I order bottles of champagne at dinner every night and found the prices on the ship are about the same as we pay eating out here in Vegas.
