Honestly I feel it is the best bang for your dollar. Before cruising we used to rent vacation homes for the week, At least $1500 bucks, Plus gas, plus food, and if it was a new area by the time you found everything the week was over. We had to clean, cook, and it sucked. A cruise is a vacation that moves for you. You can control spending, meet a lot of wonderful cruisers, go where you want to go, and no work
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.
Most people walk into and out of your life . . . but FRIENDS leave footprints in your heart
There is nothing like being on the ocean with the wind and the waves and the whole expanse of sky right down to the horizon. It is healing and soothing and wonderful! We cruise mainly for the ship experience and not so much for the ports anymore.
My vote had to be ... Cruises Favorite/but like others too!
For sure I want my major vacation of the year to be a cruise.
Still, can't even imagine not going to the beaches here in SC because they remain very special to me.

If I never took any other vacation, besides a cruise, I would be fine with that. Unfortunately, we are subject to the family vacation obligation (to go see family in other parts of the country), so we don't spend all of our vacation dollars on cruises
I agree with Char. At this point, the ship is my destination and the ports are secondary.

WE are the family that folks come to see now! Age has it's privileges.
If I want to see any of my family, I must do a vacation via land. And I do love my family We make the most of the land vacations, but my heart is at sea.

Ever since my first cruise in 1994, every vacation we've taken, except for three, have involved a cruise. (exceptions: honeymoon in Hawaii, a two 1 or 2 day stays up the coast the last few years) Often, we'll tack on a post-cruise land portion.
As others have and will say, it's an economical type of vacation, and a way to get pampered and see many places without having to schlep bags here and there. Just the initial beginning and ending hassle.

I said "equally". I am really into seeing other countries, learning about new cultures, and visting foreign and exotic places. I am a history freak, and I can't get enough of seeing places I have read about all my life and always wanted to visit.
A cruise is simply my very favorite way of getting to do this.
I realize I might be in the minority...but even though I enjoy every single aspect about a cruise, nothing on any ship is as exciting to me as seeing such things as the pyramids of Egypt or underground crypts in ancient Rome.
Everybody says this attitude changes as you get older or after you've been to enough ports. Well both those things have happened for me, and quite the opposite is true. The more exotic places I go the more I find them fascinating. So much for that theory!
