Special Occasion - Do you tell?

On a cruise ship do you tell if you are having a Special Occasion?

I voted "sometimes". It depends on who we are sailing with. If we are with folks that we know, they will usually spill the beans anyway and the waiter is all ears to hear this! They love to make the occasion special for their tables.

If we are sailing alone, not usually. If it's a birthday or anniversary we will celebrate in the specialty restaurant.

    NO was my vote.

My DH and I are far from being shy ... but neither of us like to make a big show over our special occasions.

We are very happy, however, to sing along when someone at a our or a nearby table is celebrating something.

    voted No!
We dont like fuss. If we do celebrate it will be in a speciality restaurant with no singing waiters and cake.
But I must admit its nice to have a note or a little something sendt to the cabin.

LOL...I voted sometimes. DH's birthday is in November which is when we usually cruise. I like to make it sort of special for him, just not overly!
We also like to eat in the specialty restaurants on that night. Just like we will this year

I voted sometimes.... When we sailed for my Son's College Graduation he enjoyed the extra dessert. We have a cruise next April and my Niece will be along and we'll be celebrating her 8th birthday. She will love the attention!!

    Hi, I voted sometimes also.
My husband and I don't usually celebrate birthdays on a cruise, but do for our anniversary.
this year whille on a cruise , friends gave me a surprise party with 22 people for lunch.it was lovely, but I felt a bit embarrassed, because they did it all again at dinner.
(husband was not with me, he was cruised out and decided he would go on a fishing trip instead)

    kind regards, Lorraine

We often celebrate our anniversary duing a cruise. I tell the travel agent, but I usually skip the party and usually don't bother to tell the waiter because we can do without the extra cake!

Yes -- the ship knows when DH's birthday is and our anniversary.

The last couple of years -- got nothing!!

On last year's Westerdam cruise -- the dining room staff and the Pinnacle staff kept mentioning about DH having a birthday coming up soon. On that special date -- nothing!!

But I do know personally about people getting roses, cards, free dinners at the Pinnacle, special bottles of wine -- all free -- from HAL!!

And we can't even get a card!!!

Cruising is a wonderful way to enjoy retirement!!
    Stopped counting after 110 cruises.

Only if I think I can get something free, flowers, bottle of wine, etc.
