I did not have a problem checking in when I sailed on RCL out of Miami.

I think it is worth a try to see how it goes. A lot will depend on having enough machines and staff to help people learn how to use them.

After experiencing a few check-in agents that did not know what they were doing, the idea is not all bad.

The real question is "How good is the programming?" A bad Kiosk program that confuses the customer is no better than the worst greeter.

I had to go to a human at the AA Kiosk at Miami Int'l Airport in Oct 2007 because my dad has a foreign passport and the computer did not recognize the number. If this is the case, it's a bad idea. When all countries of the world eventually reissue the new passports, it should not be an issue, hopefully.

In the articlr, it say this about that:

"To use Carnival’s self service kiosks, guests must have pre-registered online and be a U.S. or Canadian citizen, or from a Visa waiver country.. . ."
