Yes but I would still like to sail Cunard just once My favorite part of a cruise is the crew and the passengers. The money part is of no interest to me, I enjoy talking with all classes. And I hate that word LOL All that says to me is there is a belief on that line that anyone with money is better than others. Money does not make a nice person, It can, and I enjoy their company, but I also enjoy the company of a family that saved and saved to go on one cruise in an inside cabin.
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.
Most people walk into and out of your life . . . but FRIENDS leave footprints in your heart
Stephen, would you please elaborate on what the "Class System" is?
I know there are designations like Queens Grill....what does all this mean?
On QM2 the grill passengers get their own bit of deck, a lounge and a dinning room. On QV its just the lounge and dinning room.
The grill passengers join in everyone else for all other activities.
If you dine in the grills you get a higher staff to customer ratio and the food is prepared in its own galley so rather than cooking for 2000 they are cooking for a few hundred, in theory this makes the food better quality, but the menu is much the same as in the Britannia.
The way I see it, there is nothing wrong with getting a bit extra if you pay for it.
I have never travelling in the grill class and have never got the feeling I am missing out on anything.

Cruises booked: Queen Victoria November 2009, QM2 May 2010 and Queen Victoria March 2011.
Am I right in thinking that the stateroom grade I choose determines where I eat?
Only in respect of your formal dining arrangements. On both Queen Mary 2 and Queen Victoria, your accommodation is paired with a specific restaurant.
Both ships offer alternative dining options available to everyone: Kings Court, Boardwalk Cafe, Golden Lion & Todd English Restaurant on Queen Mary 2 and the Lido Cafe, Golden Lion & Todd English Restaurant on Queen Victoria.

So, we might compare it to the new AquaClass that Celebrity has recently instituted on their new ships. Special dining room and menu, access to the spa, nicer in-suite amenities, etc.
If folks are willing to pay more to get more luxuries than the "regular" passenger gets, then I don't see why it should turn me off.

Yes that pretty much it, its the little things like fresh flowers in the suit, a free mini bar, a slightly better menu and a higher level of service.
But there is nothing wrong with the level of sevice we "steerage" passengers get

No .... Absolutely, in no way does the "class system" put us off. As Char has mentioned, it happens ... could name some others as well ....
At some point in life (let us get a bit older please ) we actually plan to do "a crossing" on Cunard. Like Sue, it's something we intend to do at least once.
LuLu ... Visit SOUTH CAROLINA!
11/21/09 Crown Princess 2/18/10 Island Pricess B2B Ft.Lauderdale to Acapulco and back (total 20 days)
OVER 40 (started young) Princess, Celebrity, RCCL, HAL, NCL, Costa, Disney, Carnival, Sitmar (Princess bought), and (a very long time ago) SS Bahama Star
Maybe that would more acurately be - I don't oay it a lot of attention. Just not an important factor to me.
I live my life, others live theirs.
If some folks get a little extra, it may very well be that they are more willing to pay for it or worked harder to be able to afford it. And maybe I'm not that willing or I didn't work as hard or as smart as they. That's life!
So, basically, class is of no consequence to me. Nor would it be if I were to sail Cunard. That's just a part of Cunard.
