The only place you can't go is the Queen's Grill Lounge (and a small deck on aft of QM2), all the other lounges and bars are open to everyone.

I have never sailed Grill class, but I have never had the feeling I am missing anything.

Thanks, that is nice to know. I thought there were a lot more areas the lower class could not go to.

We missed Humburg and took 3 days to get from Southampton to Oslo. Hard work for the Cruise Director who had come up wih an extra full day's entertainment.

Ok, just booked a British Isles cruise for Aug 2010, we have 2 sea days in the North Sea. Is it always rough there? Are we likely to encounter rough seas?

You should be ok in August, it was December when I got the force 11. It can be vey warm and sunny in August so hopefully you will get lucky with the weather.

The class system in itself does not put me off. It's the people who are in the higher class(paid more) that put me off. They just seem to have an attitude problem. We sailed QM2 once on a 14 day Christmas and New Year cruise. We only sailed her because of a last minute half price sale. Otherwise we could not afford it. The grill folk seemed a little snooty. That someone who pays more gets more service is fine, but that they receive better service and food, I don't agree. We were disappointed with that cruise.

I am sorry you were disappointed with your cruise on QM2. I have just returned from a wonderful cruise onboard QM2 and have no problems with service, food or anything else.
