Usually about 3 days before the cruise to visit the city we are in and readjust our body clocks when on the west coast.

    Good Poll, Patty!
Thanks, Lulu. It was really quiet here the other night. Plus we try to get to the port city early and do some sightseeing and shopping before the cruise when it's a port other than LA. "So I wonder how many others do that too.

We always do 2 days precruise. That gives a full day to do something in the port city. We are ready to come home after the cruise too but the darn thing always gets done too soon!

We always arrive at the port city one day before the cruise. If we are in Europe, we will go up to 5 days early to tour the area.

On our cruise next fall, we depart from Civitavecchia, Italy and plan to stay a week in Tuscany pre-cruise.

Hi I am on the Costa Blanca. I live in a town called Alfaz del Pi. Its about 40 minutes drive from Alicante and 1.5 hour south of Valencia. The nearest "big" city is Benidorm.

When we cruise out of Barcelona we try to catch an early flight the day before, but as we have been there so many times we try to fly home the same day.

I'm just south of Valencia, but a different one from you.

For our cruise in March we will be doing a 3-night pre-cruise stay in Fort Lauderdale, my sister and brother-in-law are joining us and have never been to Fort Lauderdale in fact they have never been to Florida.

But for the post cruise we are all flying home the same day as we depart the ship, we booked on the same flight to Atlanta then they will catch a flight to London and us back to Utah.

Too bad, we will not be in your area. On a cruise last year, we did stop in Valencia. We loved it.

We always come into the port area the day before the cruise. It makes it so much easier and far less stress. Sometimes we stay a day after the cruise. In San Diego it is so beautiful there that we often spend extra time before and after. Same with Seattle.

If it were a new port for us, I think we would spend a couple of days before hand to explore the area.
