Just another addition to everyone who says "Parents are responsible" I do agree, however at the gangway if the child is under an age, bam it shows up on screen Security asks where is your guardian, child has not, does not get off.. No letters, not stickers on cards that say it is "okay."

Like someone said, parent walks them off, if they walk away, well the crew will know... Those transactions are stored in a relational database --- Right Neal

I do not mean the crew should baby sit, but should control access on and off the ship... So, I have just decided, I will vote parent, but like I said Crew NEEDS to control access... That is part of Security's job.

This is not a hard poll, I'm 18. Every passenger on the ship has a card, which when scanned brings up that persons information right? Well... There should be some type of note that the guardian or parent can put on their account that states they are allowed or not allowed to go ashore alone. (I.e. without their parent or guardian) They can have the parent or guardian sign a waiver so that they won’t be held responsible

Edit: I'm guessing that the age range would be like 16-18 or just for 17 year old.

I know I wouldn't let my kids go onshore alone... if it were a true Private island like Princess Cay, or something, I might consider letting them go back to the ship...lol... but that is it!

So, in a perfect world, the Sea Pass would show "UNDER AGE" and the crew member wouldn't allow the child to disembark. But we've all seen how packed that gangway is. The crew members have to disembark up to 5,400 passengers in a small amount of time.

For me, I KNOW where my kids are at all times. And when they are teens, if they even ATTEMPTED to get off the ship without my knowledge, I wouldn't blame the cruise line. It is up to me to be a parent. And believe me, I would deal with it.

I am all for parental responsibility

Yes, I have to agree with public opinion here. Parents are responsible for knowing their childrens' whereabouts at all times. The only time it is a cruiseline's responsiblity is when the children are signed into the kids' program.
