Internet Cafes on Port Stops: Have you ever used one?

Have you ever used an Internet Cafe on any of your Port Stops?

Anything extra you might want to add -- which ones are most convenient ... cost ... good or bad experience ... etc.

There is an internet provider in several ports in Alaska.
They have internet cafes in Juneau, Ketchikan, Skagway
and several others, I believe. You can buy a set number of minutes and use them in the different ports. You get a card that you swipe at the terminals. The price is much less than on the ship and it is reliable high speed service. Maybe someone else can think of the company.

I have used one in Puerto Vallarta several times.
1/2 block from the cruise dock and $1 per hour.

I like the idea of buying minutes and them giving me a card with the minutes loaded on.

What I don't like is the idea of swiping my credit card for access on foreign soil.

We haven't. In fact, we've only used a computer onboard a ship once, many cruises ago, just to try it out.

We have never felt the need to go online while on a cruise, so my answer is no.

On our girls cruise in 1999 I used one in Aruba. I was fairly new to computers and emailing and wanted to send an email to DH and some friends in MN that I was warm and suntanned and having a great time.

Now with the interned on ship I keep in touch with DH that way. I do it when I have a few extra minutes, like before dinner, before bed, or on a cool or rainy day. It has never kept me away from anything I wanted to do and I like to let DH know all is well.
