We've sailed on Celebrity four times and have often stated how much we enjoyed our Celebrity cruises. Please know ... I honestly intended for Celebrity to be listed!

It's there now.

Cunard is so, well, British, and Carnival is so Vegas. Are you comfortable with the difference?

That is the only thing that is putting me off Carnival, but it could be the only way I can afford to go to St Petersburgh and the Baltic states. Got two cruises booked for next year so I have until 2010 to make my mind up.

Stephen, I do believe that the Carnival cruises in Europe are a little different than the much publicized Caribbean party atmosphere.

You might want to read up on the Carnival European reviews to see how they might differ.

I'm not a Carnival person myself...I have cruised with them twice. The first time in 2000 and then we won a cruise last year on Carnival. The experience was not bad....but it wasn't in our top 20 list of cruises. Both were in the Caribbean.

We did St Petersburg and the Baltic (with a side trip to Moscow...fascinating!) on Holland American. We really enjoyed it, and were impressed with the atmosphere, first rate service and tasteful decor. Nothing "Vegas" about it. They have specials now and then...maybe you could get a good deal.

....and ofcourse Stephen there is Royal Caribbean and Celebrity departing from the UK - Harwich- to the Baltic and St. Petersburg. Also Azamara are doing a series of "perfect" 12 days Baltics cruises from Copenhagen, 3 days in St. Petersburg, overnight in Stocholm etc
But you better book early. Many of the Baltic cruises onboard the Jewel of the Seas for next year are already sold out!!!

Shephen, we took our Baltic on Princess and were quite pleased.

The side trip to Moscow was cancelled because the airline to have been used had a problem with two crashes in a month. Some PAX were really upset. Just doing St.Petersburg was fine with us.

Our very good friends did a trip through Golden Circle. They flew to Moscow and spent a couple of days. Then, took a river boat from Moscow to St.Pete and spent a couple of days there. They said, "The price was right!"
