Hi nealberk,
Celebrity I know many people like very much coming out of NYC because of Cape Liberty.

Also because of their service and following and repeat cruisers.

We know that many also talk highly about their Food & Dining experiences on Celebrity.

They have won many awards for service and food.

If we had the opportunity next to Cunard, it would be for Celebrity.

Well, I do sound like I am down on HAL right now but after our last cruise and the aftermath, I think I have every right to be.

For the highs and lows of the cruise, check back to my live from thread:
http://www.cruiselinefans.com/hollan...caribbean.html (Live from Noordam Dec 7 Southern Caribbean)

In a nutshell, HAL service has gone from spectacular to abysmal between my last cruises on their ships. Beginning with getting Noro virus and how they reacted to it (charging us for videos while I confined to the room, charging us for the bottled water that we had to use to mix up the gatorade powder, charging us for Sprite- one of the few things I could keep down, not willing to get me french toast since it was not on the OFFICIAL room menu list - it was available on the buffet when I requested it), handling the incident of the hair dryer that exploded in my hands sending burning material on me (yes I got second degree burns) and almost catching the room on fire (luckily none of the embers caught fire), their handling of our second call to the emergency number and a request for medical aid resulting in the statement "the infirmary opens in half an hour, can you wait? Oh, it will take us about that long to get down there anyway", their not having a first aid kit in the infirmary (they did have narcotics if my pain was really bad, though), and the way they handled my complaints both on the ship and after we got home, well, you can see that I am not a happy camper.

Oh yes, there was the fuel surcharge (we missed not getting a fuel surcharge by one day's price of fuel), the future cruise person who was a blithering idiot ("I can't make suggestions - read the book"), and not being able to use our coupon in the specialty restaurant because my wife then got Noro.

It was a delightful cruise.

With the exception of running out of a few items in the buffet the last few days, the food was spectacular on Celebrity. And as good as the regular meals were, the specialty restaurant was unbelievable.
