This is a tough one. I would be interested in the tour, but the cost is rather high. Also as Lars said, I really don't think seeing the crew's areas is necessary. Those people work hard and have little time to themselves. I would rather let them have that time, then me disturb them.
I have on several occasions seen almost all that this tour is offering.
On my 1st cruise on Home Line's Homeric I was 13 or 14 and asked the purser to see engine room. They took my name and said they would get back to me. A day or two later I had an invite to see the engine room, along with one guest, so Itook my father.
They used to give regular tours of the bridge on most crusies and I have been on the bridge of Homeric, Festivale, Mardi Gras and Song of Norway. The Galley tour is also a popular one that I have done on several cruises including those named above and Carnival Triumph. On our last cruise on Caribbean Princess this was still being offered, free of charge, but we did not go.
On Carnival Legend we took a tour in Tortola that was a little late getting back to ship. We were suppose to be on board by 1:30 and we got back around that time. The line to get on the ship was long and the captian wanted to leave at the 2:00 planned departure. To help get everyone on the ship faster, they let use board at the crew entrance. Thee then had crew there directing us where to go to make it back to "civilization" of the ship "we knew" We got to walk in a section I heard crew members call "A1A" because it runs the length of the ship and acts like a highway connecting alot of areas. Very interesting and something only a few of us got to see.
Thye also offered on Carnival Legend on one of the seas days back to NYC a behind the scenes tour of the stage and dressing areas which my wife and I took. Very interesting and very cramped back there.
