Are There SOME Ports Where You Had Rather Tender than Dock?

Like most, we normally prefer to dock. Yet, there are times when we had rather tender.

When the cruise ship pier is located several miles outside of town and the tender dock is in the town center ... and all we want to do is go into town -- we had rather tender. No need to mess with taxis!

If we are taking a half day excursion and planning to spend the rest of the day aboard -- we prefer to tender. It's more like being At Sea (motion of ocean) anchored, than docked.

What are YOUR thoughts on this?

Honestly it doesn't matter. If we get off the ship it is to shop for the kids, so whatever the port has to offer we will do it
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

Gosh, Sue, I should have listed "Either Is All Right" as one of the choices!

I said yes, primarily thinking of Cozumel. One time we were right downtown, the other in another area code. Big taxi ride if you wanted to go to town. We chose to go to the beach instead. Saved me big bucks keeping DW from the stores.

Hear you on Cozumel! I just love it when we can tender into Town!

Tortola is another where we always HOPE to tender!

I love tendering but prefer to dock as its more convinient.
Some ports are a must for tendering, the photo oportunity are just too good to miss.
Portofino in Italy, Moorea island in the South Pacific, Eastern Island, The Seychelles are a few places I prefer to tender.

I don't care for tendering. Too many steps for these old knees.

    I totally agree with Lars.

If it's gorgeous scenery coming up...like Sorrento or Bora Bora...they by all means I want to see it from a tender! The view is that much more intense when you're down in that little boat looking up.
