A Cruise Princess & Disney Freak
Isn't it funny that not one single person among us likes the "amusement park" activities...or the glitz?
Somebody must like all that stuff. They keep making ships that way!

With this poll almost closed I was thinking the same thing. Funny that cruise lines always trying to "out do" another with fancy new ideas like rock climbing walls, shopping malls, ice rinks, bars, and other "innovative ideas" yet the majority of us here don't seem to care about that. Is it because we are more expreienced crusiers? less impressed with "gimmicks"? or just have that been there done that attitude?
Personally a ship that looks good asthtically for me is what does it, aslways has and always will. Now I am just waiting for a ship that looks good and has some of these innovative ideas mixed in.

I had to go with features. We've been to the ports so many times . Sometimes we only get off to walk around, maybe stop for a drink & then go back to the ship. I like having a choice of things to do. I'm looking forward to the entertainment choices on the Oasis. I like the intimate lounges. The Rising Tide Bar looks pretty cool.
Hmmmm.. It sounds like I'm looking forward to the many bars. Oh Yeah, I am !! LOL

I would consider a great bar an asthetic fetaure because it is not a necessary peice of the puzzle to make a great ship. There are plenty of ships outthere that have great bar area that offers an intimate expereince on board, but when it comes ot soemthing like the Rising Tide bar on board of Oasis of the Seas I find this to be gimmicky and feature on the ship that would not necssarily affect the asthectis of the ship and its' lines.

I voted Features. I will explain.
I don't see myself wanting to be on a ship that resembles a city... or an amusement park... or some other floating monstrosity. So, what features a ship has, and what it DOES NOT HAVE, is important to me.
The features that I want are: balconies; a pool/hot tubs; a lovely walking deck; some lovely artwork; a feeling of spaciousness in the public areas (don't want to feel crowded), which is quite possible on smaller ships!
I do appreciate that all these features can be wrapped in lovely aesthetics, and I love pretty, classy, understated elegance... but putting lovely aesthetics on a huge ship that carries every "feature" that they could dream up, is kinda like putting lipstick on a pig.
