    Luggage lost...

Has the cruise line ever lost your luggage..?
I decided to have a poll so she how many out there have shared my experiance of lost luggage..
I did the Freedom of The Seas, without any luggage.. Only what I was wearing... and I did us a few of my DH shirts ... ( ok more than a few )
I was ok with it, and just enjoyed my self anyway without my luggage.. Most of the time.. Now here was the time I did not enjoy..
Trying to buy clothes on ship and lslands..
As when your a healthy chunky lady, they don't have the larger sizes at ship shops or island shop.. if your more than a size 10.... you better hope and pray your luggage gets on board...
The ship was great about doing my laundry daily and having it all ready before dinner each day.. but wearing shorts to dinner, was not very easy.. So many eyes staring at me.. Ladys mouths running wild with bad words about me.. That is the part that was bad... The way I looked at the whole thing was I paid for this sailing and I was going to enjoy it... I was going to have my steak N lobster in the dinner room. I was not to let them lady's who glared all night at me.. get me upset and hid in my cabin over this..
It was something I hope no one has had to deal with or should have to deal with..
So please remember if you see someone at dinner who is wearing short, give them a break, that could be all they had to wear... and not by choice..
Ok your turn,,,, post your replys for others to read..

Good poll, Larrie. I've never had a cruiseline lose luggage but Alaska Air did once coming home after almost 2 weeks in PV. We had several large bags. It really worked out well for us because we didn't have to schlep them to the shuttle, then the car and then into the house. An Alaska Air van showed up at the house the next day about 10 am with all of it and they carried it all in. My son and his wife and kids went to Hawaii and they lost theirs. The kids showed up at the hotel but DS and wife didn't get theirs until after they got home 2 weeks later. and it was a week after that. They were renewing their wedding vows and had to buy all new clothes which worked out because they are wore the same Hawaiian print, her dress an the guys in shirts. The pics were great. But the thing that got me was I KNOW how hard it is to find a swim suit and she had to go shopping for new ones

WOW! Not very often that the cruise line looses your bags....it's usually the airline!

Never had any luggage lost on a ship, but have had a few instances where my bags didn't fly on the same plane as I did!

So what's your story, Larrie? I'm sure lots of folks want details!

Here is the story.... Char .....
We did a four nighter first and then stayed in Miami over weekend... Then went to port in Miami, and gave our luggage to porters at pier... They put them on lift belt to ship....but someones luggage got jammed and some fourty bags got kicked off and fell on US Customs building roof... No one seen this or even noticed it.. finally the jammed bag cleared and everyone elses stuff went on board.... There is times of lulls between bags coming up to ship.. so they did not know there was a jam up.. So we took off as normal.. with about 40 people without luggage..
by late night, many like me was getting on edge about our missing luggage.. They took me down to area where they had bags with no tags to see if any was mine.. NO not mine... Then they call Carnival as they had also left pier about our time, and thinking it was loaded on wrong ship... Nope that did not pan out either.. Then they told me, they had a shop coupon for me to get some clothes... Like wrong.. I can't fit in a size 10 or smaller.. LOL.. so the next few days they contacted the Miami police about stolen luggage..
and I was sailing without luggage with many others.. One lady got off ship at first port and flew home.. she was so angry about not having clothes and the comments at dinner from others ..... And it was pretty bad comments some made.. It was so bad the Capt. put up a notice on TV about many who do not have luggage and will be joining in dinners with shorts or what they boarded in.. so please be kind to them, as it is not there faults.. but really it did not stop many..
On the last day we got a card saying for us to meet the Miami police at office on deck 5... @ 9:00 am.. So we went to breakfast early so we would not be late for that meeting.. and when we returned to cabin after breakfast... there was a second note.. Meet up with Customs officers and Rccl at baggage pick up.. Now I am confussed... so I call pursers desk.. they said, we found your luggage we think.. so go to this place instead of meeting up with police.. so we did.. We got a porter to bring lannys bags and other stuff and off to the customs building ... as we were walking the porter said ..... Oh you must be one of them who's bags was kicked off the ship onto the customs roof for a week... I said ... IS that where they found my luggage...?? He said YES Mam, and they only found it because a window washer was working up there and seen all this baggage and called homeland security about it... What a story Uh... all my stuff was intact except one of the front zipper pouches get torn open and some things got damaged.. but 96% of my stuff was just fine...
What a deal Uh... and yes I still book with same cruise line...

My goodness, Larrie! You do have a story to tell!! At least they didn't blow your bags up...being on the roof of the Customs office! They could have thought it was a bomb!

Wow, what a way to have your luggage lost. IMO, there should have been more than an annoucement on the cabin tv as some people don't use it or would turn to the ship's channel. There should had been a sign posted at the various dining rooms that will inform passengers. And if anyone still acted snobby, well, they are idiots.

I've been lucky to have not lost luggage on a cruise.

The first time I was in Hawaii, we changed our flight to an earlier one at Honolulu airport. My friend just did carry on's (she's weird ), but my bag was not changed to the earlier flight. As I discovered back at LAX when it wasn't with everyone else's. Got it within a few days.

When I went to Seattle with my mother, she was a real pain to everyone. Unfortunately, she was irritating the folks at the check-in counter on our way back home. When we got to LAX, our luggage wasn't there. Turned out, the counter people must have "accidently" placed Reno airport tags on our bags and our luggage got an overnight stay in the largest small town (or whatever it's nicknamed).

We almost had a luggage disaster on our last trip involving a flight. We were boarding the Flyaway (a special bus that goes from the Valley to LAX) and hubby looked out the window when the driver was closing up the luggage bay...and saw our bags right by the bus. So he got out and pointed out the bags. No explanation of why the driver missed our bags (we weren't acting up like my mother).
