If your first worry's are getting seasick.. a 4 nt'r will be just perfect.. If you want to know if you enjoy cruising, a 7 nt'r is more for you...
I started out with a 7 nt'r.. and I was crying on pack out night.. I had so much fun...
I love seadays ... and shore days..
I love cruising..
I only like 4 nt'rs now to end or begain a seven nt'r on other ship..
We had done that..
We booked two cruises out of Miami,
One being a 4 nt'r, then 2 nights in Miami, then got on Freedom for 7 nt'r... So we ended up with 11 days sailing and a fun week end in Miami..
Now we live in Pacific northwest, so going to Miami is a long flight, so we wanted to get the most out of our air fare ,,,, and got to do some fun cruising too... plus got extra cruise credits.....
I hope you do book and try it out..
I would do a least a 7 night cruise to get the fall cruise experience.

We did the 5 day Imagination for our 1st cruise. I would highly recommend the intinery to anyone. You get the full cruise experience - sea day, private island and can play tourist in 2 ports of call.
Our experience was beyond our expectations. Then again, we had perfect weather and glass seas!

Unless you live right at the docs, a short cruise is really not cost effective. By the time you invest your time and money in getting to the port you often have taken almost as much time as the cruise has to offer. And when you amortize the cost of travel, the net effect is a much more expensive cruise.

In my opinion not much you can experience in 3 nights. Considering the first night will be the day you get on board and the last night is the night you pack,(and may have to put the bags outside the door) what are you really talking about is a 1 night cruise. The first day things don't really get going till the ship pulls away from the pier. While I have been on cruises that have many people sunning by the pool as soon as they get board, I usually find spending the first few hours walking around, getting to know the "lay of the land" and exploring is a great way to "know your ship".
The last day they are pushing you off early to get ready for the next group, so you don't really get much out of that day except maybe breakfast. A mimimum of 4 nights is best, but I would suggest 7 if possible. If yrou nervious about getting seasick, pick a cruise that has a port everyday with 1 or 2 sea days. If this is not a worry then, choose what you feel works best for you.
