    Do you budget for vacations?

Do you budget for vacations? If yes, how do you do it?

If anyone has any suggestions on improving this poll, we can make the change!

I don't know how good a poll it will turn out to be, but I just thought it was time for another!!!

    Have fun!

Hmmm, I guess I'll have to vote for "save $$$" during the year as that would be the closest. But in reality it would be that we book insides (I think only once did we book an OV and once we were upgraded to an OV) as we try not to spend a lot of time in our cabin.

During the cruise, we tend not to spend a lot of money: maybe a few drinks at the most, including soft drinks, buy only a few photos, not always do an excursion in most ports (more get into the port and walk around), not buy expensive trinkets (a tee shirt, an inexpensive piece of jewelry), no gambling, no specialty restaurants.

Multiple choice would have been nice. I answered I budget each vacation at a time. However, I would also say that I save through the year. I also look for deals.

One cruise at a time!! We can only take one cruise so we sort of budget, we put our income tax refund aside for final payment!!
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

Thanks to those who have replied. Many didn't, so I have to conclude that this is not one of my better polls!!!

Multiple choices would suit me fine, but I don't know how to change it!

I think I was very tired when I made this poll, because I realize that I didn't even include what I myself would have chosen!

I watch the Celebrity website, since that is the line we travel. When the new itineraries first appear, I choose one. We seek the warmth in the winter, so I guess that is high season. We mostly choose inside cabins and we like to choose the longer cruises, the longer the better! So far, I have found that cruising this way is a very economical way to travel. It is a lot less than staying in a hotel.

But now, we have done so many of the southern itineraries that we need something new for a change. We are trying our first transatlantic, something that has always intrigued me. We were thinking of going to France for 3 weeks in May, when I found the May 3 Galaxy cruise. It will cost us so much less that I jumped on it! Can't resist a good bargain! Hope we enjoy it.

I hope more people respond. It is always fun to read other's stories!

Since we live in New England and have easy access to the ports for the transatlantic I would like to save up for one of these. Pat and I have talked about doing that one day. Then doing a land base vacation over there. He would also like to do an European and Mediteranean cruise. This is something we will have to watch for deals after we have saved up the money for the trip.

We do plan to do a Hawaii cruise for our 25 year anniversary. That means we have 4 years to save up for a great vacation.

We try to take at least land base vacations if we can't cruise. Well, Pat has only cruise once. My daughter has gone on two with me. We are hoping to get one in within the next year.

We choose the one we want to go on and then budget through the year- I have money taken out of our checking each week into an account I try not to touch except for those expenses directly related to the cruise...flights, excursions we've booked ahead...etc.

I checked save through out the year...but that isn't necessarily what actually happens....I have a big coffee container filled with money...mostly change, and some bills....I seemed to have booked myself for three cruises this year...YIKES!

Fortunately we are financially set enough that we can cruise at least twice a year, maybe three times depending on the deals we get.. We're also into foreign land travel which can cost much more than cruising.. We won't be cruising again this year 08, as we are going to Ireland for 2 weeks this summer, and that will pretty much eat up our travel money for this year..

We save my overtime throughout the year,it (cruise) doesn't come from money for anything else. It's the cream on top. It's our reward to ourselves for working our a$$ off. Most of all, God blesses us.
