I've been dying to see it for a long time. I used to work for someone from there. Our last cruise revamped our itinerary and we went to Key West instead. I was none too happy about that. We are really looking forward to seeing Jamaica this December. But I don't think we'd ever set off on our own there. I think we'll stick with the ship excursions.

went to montego bay jamaica but did my research before I went. There is certain taxi cabs you have to take they were a certain color. We went to sunset bay resort all you can drink! which is protected by steel gates and guards. It was awesome! We then took the cab to margarita ville. Had an awesome time

We got a cab just out side the port gates, and we went to Margaritaville ( Mont. Bay.. ) and we had a blast there... I was on the top floor of that place and you could look over the railings and see some of the streets from up there... You surely could see you were in a 3 rd world county for sure.. But I felt safe but had DH and 38 year son with us... I think if you go in a group ... your fine.. and don't show off your wallets or purses.. and keep a close watch on them..

It must have been over 10 years ago since I was there last. Then I didnt like the place at all. A few times "back then" I just walked down the gangway, turned around and walked back up again.
I might feel different about it now so I would easily give the island another try.

Whenever this subject comes up, I am just amazed at the divergence of opinions about this place.

I LOVED IT and look forward to going again late this year!

Our Day there was SO memorable that it brings a smile to my face every time I think about it.

I wrote a short report on it after we returned. You can find it here:
